ABOUT THE TRIP

Porto Alegre is the capital of the state of Rio Grande do Sul and is located in the extreme south of Brazil, bordering Argentina, Uruguay and the state of Santa Catarina. For those coming from out of state or from the country, it is possible to reach the city through the International Airport of Porto Alegre (also known as Salgado Filho Airport), the Porto Alegre Bus Station or by car.

Arriving in Porto Alegre by the Porto Alegre Internacional Airport

The Porto Alegre International Airport receives flights from all states of Brazil and some countries. The domestic landing and the international landing are done on the first floor. The airport is undergoing renovations, so be aware of possible changes at your arrival / departure location!

The path from Porto Alegre International Airport to PUCRS Event Center can be done by car, taxi or public transportation.

BY CAR - The route is approximately 11 km. There are car rental companies on the ground floor of the airport, close to the landing of flights.

BY TAXI - There are taxi points in front of the main exits of the Airport. The trip to PUCRS has an approximate value of R$ 45.00.

BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT - There are no bus lines that directly connect from Porto Alegre Airport to PUCRS Event Center. You can acess the rote in here

Arriving in Porto Alegre by car

For those who come by car, there are three highway options that bring you to Porto Alegre:

BR 290 - best option for those coming from the South of the state;
BR 116 - best option for those coming from the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre;
RS 040 - best option for those coming from the Metropolitan Region or the Coastline;

In Porto Alegre, UBER, CABIFY and 99POP work very well and are also transportation options to move around the city.

Historic Center and Public Market (Centro Histórico e Mercado Público) 

The Historic Center of Porto Alegre has several tourist attractions, including the Public Market, considered the heart of the city and where it is possible to find some history of Rio Grande do Sul. 

BY CAR - The route is approximately 8 km. The best route option is as follows: via Ipiranga Avenue. Along this route you will pass by Parque Farroupilha (redenção), tourist point of the city. TAXI - The taxi stand is located between the Porto Alegre City Hall and the Public Market. The ride to PUCRS has an approximate value of R$ 26.00.

Arriving in Porto Alegre by Porto Alegre Bus Station (Rodoviária de Porto Alegre)

The Porto Alegre Bus Station is located near the city center. There are buses from all the cities of Rio Grande do Sul, other states of Brazil, such as Santa Catarina, Paraná and São Paulo, and even from other countries, such as Argentina, Uruguay and Chile. There are signposts and employees throughout the Bus Station that are always avaible to help.

The route from Porto Alegre Bus Station to PUCRS can be done by car, taxi or public transportation.

BY CAR - The route is approximately 8 km. There are no car rental companies operating within the bus station, but there are hotels that have rental services near the bus station.

BY TAXI - There are taxi points straight ahead as two exits from the Bus Station. The ride to PUCRS has an approximate value of R$ 36.00.

BY BUS - There are no service lines that directly attend to PUCRS. You can check an alternative route, near from Porto Alegre Bus Station, in here.
